The Sixth Meeting of the First Council and the Third Membership Representative Conference of Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association (SCIMEA) was successfully held on July 9. All members of the council and member representatives of SCIMEA attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Yang Zheng, Vice President of West China Hospital of Stomatology of Sichuan University and Vice President of SCIMEA.

According to the agenda of the meeting, Chen Longqi, a professor from the Department of Thoracic Surgery at West China Hospital of Sichuan University and Executive Vice President of SCIMEA, delivered an annual work report. Executive Vice President Chen Longqi pointed out that in 2021, SCIMEA carried out a series of activities to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party, vigorously promoted the prosperity and development of medical academic activities, accelerated the construction of first-class medical journals, innovatively promoted popularization of medical humanities, and focuses on its internal construction management. SCIMEA was rated as a 5A-level social organization by the Department of Civil Affairs of Sichuan Province, entering the fast track of accelerated development. In 2022, SCIMEA will focus on deepening medical academic service capabilities, speeding up the construction of first-class academic journals, strengthening medical health science popularization, enhancing industrial development services, establishing SCIMEA's innovative development brand, and promoting various tasks to a new level.

Zhang Mengfan, Secretary General of SCIMEA, reported the financial status of SCIMEA in 2021 and briefed the major events of the year. Secretary General Zhang Mengfan noted that, SCIMEA overcame the huge difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 and created relatively good business performance. In 2022, it will forge ahead and strive for better performance.

Xiong Qing, Vice President of SCIMEA, proposed to review the list of new members of the council and member representatives. With the development of the branches and business scope of SCIMEA, a total of 42 new members of the council (including Chen Lei) and member representatives were added to the list. President Wei Yuquan, Vice President Liu Jin and Vice President Chen Mao issued certificates to the new council members.

Liu Jin, Director of Anesthesia Surgery Center of West China Hospital of Sichuan University and Vice President of SCIMEA, proposed to review the amendments to the Articles of Association. The amendments to the Articles of Association is based on the work requirements to include party building into the articles of association and the latest regulations on the articles of association of the Department of Civil Affairs of Sichuan Province, with the contents updated and improved. The amendments to the Articles of Association were unanimously voted by all member representatives.

Chen Mao, Director of the Department of Cardiology at West China Hospital of Sichuan University and Vice President of SCIMEA, proposed to review the important institutional documents. The meeting voted and passed four institutional documents, namely, the Administrative Measures for the Branches of Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association, the Administrative Measures for Members of Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association, the Administrative Measures for Membership Fees of Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association, and the Administrative Measures for Fee Payment and Reimbursement of Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association, which further standardized the internal management process and system.

A number of outstanding special committees and outstanding council members were also commended at the meeting. Among them, 4 special committees including the Special Committee on Breast Cancer were rated as model special committees, 6 special committees including the Special Committee on Esophageal Disease were rated as excellent special committees, and 10 council members including Zeng Jiancheng were rated as excellent council members.

Wei Yuquan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of SCIMEA, expressed his gratitude to all council members and representatives for their long-term support and assistance to the development of SCIMEA. President Wei Yuquan pointed out that SCIMEA has achieved many breakthroughs in its development process of more than three years. It hosted several influential academic activities, including China-Japan Summit Forum on Advanced Medical Care and New Drug R&D Summit Forum & Achievements Transformation Conference, and West China-Mayo International Forum of Critical Care Medicine. The academic journals are about to enter the SCI journal sequence, and a first-class academic journal development matrix initially takes shape; West China Medical Culture Industry Company is deeply in line with the requirements of the Healthy China initiative, and enjoys great development potentials. President Wei Yuquan proposed that the secretariat of SCIMEA should further practice the development ideas of internationalization, specialization and branding, closely contact the members of the council and regular members, extensively engage with the resources of the pharmaceutical-related industry, strive to explore new development areas, and promote a better future of SCIMEA.
