Prof. Li Weimin introduced the project and noted that, the survival rate of late stage lung cancer is only about 5%, and that’s the fundamental reason why lung cancer is the leading cancer killer. The cure of lung cancer is closely related to its stage, and the five-year survival rate of lung cancer less than 1cm can reach 92%, but due to the low diagnosis rate of early lung cancer in China, the five-year survival rate is only 19.8%. Thus, multidisciplinary assistance in diagnosis is urgently needed to improve the early screening rate. The Chinese Lung Cancer Early Diagnosis and Early Treatment Enhancement Project will join hands with national experts in the field of respiratory medicine, collaborate with related departments such as thoracic surgery, oncology, imaging, pathology, and laboratory to build a national platform for exchange and promotion of early diagnosis and early treatment of lung cancer, implement the four precise prevention and treatment guidelines for lung cancer, establish a three-tier system of Grade-A tertiary hospitals-county hospitals-community hospitals, and promote the early diagnosis and early treatment of lung cancer.
