In order to enhance the exchange and cooperation with the eastern developed areas of China, on the morning of June 9, 2021, Ms. Dong Jian, Deputy General Manager of Investment Promotion Center of Suzhou High-tech Zone Management Committee, and Mr. Wang Yinjie, Director of Investment Promotion Bureau of Suzhou Xushuguan Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee led a delegation of 5 people visited Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association (SCIMEA) on invitation. The delegation was met with Ms. Zhang Mengfan, Secretary General of SCIMEA as well as the heads of relevant departments of SCIMEA. Both sides discussed their respective advantages and cooperation intentions in depth at the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, Ms. Zhang Mengfan, Secretary General of SCIMEA, firstly expressed her sincere welcome to the Suzhou delegation, briefly introduced the SCIMEA to the guests, and indicated SCIMEA’s attitude of multilateral and win-win cooperation.

Later, Mr. Wang Yinjie, Director of Investment Promotion Bureau of Suzhou Xushuguan Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee, noted that, Suzhou is known to have seen robust, high-quality development momentum in the biomedical field in recent years with the strong support of the local government, and has also formed many biomedical industry clusters with prominent cluster strength. At present, Suzhou has now become a leader of biomedical industry in Jiangsu Province and even in China. As one of the three strategic emerging industries in Suzhou, biomedical industry will also become a new engine of Suzhou's economic growth in the coming years.

The biomedical industry, as a knowledge-intensive industry, requires clinical resources and long R&D cycles, which is both the opportunity and challenge to be faced in the process of industrial development. In this sense, the supporting facilities and services are especially important. However, Chengdu, represented by West China Hospital, boasts the regional advantages of rich clinical resources and strong R&D strength. Therefore, the cooperation between the two sides will not only complement each other's resources, but also improve the service chain of the industry, thus promoting the rapid development of the whole biomedical industry.

Ms. Dong Jian, Deputy General Manager of Investment Promotion Center of Suzhou High-tech Zone Management Committee, added that it is hoped that through the cooperation with SCIMEA, new service paths for enterprise development can be actively explored beyond the existing development model focusing on industrial manufacturing, so as to further close the distance between industrial development and clinical resources and extend the service chain of the whole industry, while relying on Suzhou's geographical and industrial advantages, the players in western China can overcome the geographical constraints and expand their influence in the eastern China in the new era.

This meeting comprehensively demonstrated the advantages of Suzhou's biomedical industry in biotechnology and medical devices, and the SCIMEA will actively create good cooperation opportunities for Suzhou to boost domestic demand. Both sides expressed that on the basis of regular meetings and forum projects, they will also work together to promote in-depth cooperation in the future in project results transformation, journals, popular medical science, cultural exchange and promotion, vocational education and other niche areas.

At the end of the meeting, relevant members of SCIMEA and the Suzhou delegation took a group photo and the meeting was successfully concluded in a friendly atmosphere.
