The 2021 Special Training Lecture on Psychological Intervention of Tianfu New Area Conflict Mediation Center, sponsored by the Political and Legal Affairs Commission of Tianfu New Area and organized by Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association (“SCIMEA”), was held in the lecture hall of the Prosecutors College on March 25, in order to further improve the psychological intervention skills of the cadres at Tianfu New Area Conflict Mediation Center. The participants of the training lecture included: the relevant staff from the Political and Legal Affairs Commission of Tianfu New Area, the petition staff from all departments of Tianfu New Area, the section leaders and handlers from the conflict mediation centers of sub-district offices, and the staff from the conflict mediation centers of villages (communities).

A leader of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission of Tianfu New Area delivered a speech before the lecture started. In his speech, he mentioned that with the economic transformation and the further deepening of major reforms in various fields, the social conflict and dispute mediation departments are facing increasing pressure and challenges, and the grassroots mediators often have troubles to speak their mind and talk about things the right way. In order to further improve the psychological intervention skills of the (petition) cadres of the conflict mediation centers in Tianfu New Area, the Area, together with SCIMEA, invited Ms. Chen Yuezhu, a clinical psychotherapist from the Mental Health Center of West China Hospital of Sichuan University, to conduct psychological intervention training for everyone present.

After that, Ms. Chen Yuezhu gave a special training with the topic of "understanding the psychological characteristics of petitioners, improving the efficiency of conflict mediation, and relieving your own psychological burden". Ms. Chen expounded the basic personality characteristics of the petitioners and the psychological self-regulation of the petition cadres in great detail. She used actual cases and illustrations to analyze the causes of conflicts, introduce conflict resolution methods and psychological self-regulation ways, deepening the participants' understanding of psychological intervention. Finally, Ms. Chen shared the practical communication skills of psychological intervention for petition staff, and in combination with work experience, answered the questions that the participants would encounter in their work.
The training lecture deepened the staff's understanding of psychological intervention, improved their skills of mediating conflicts to a certain extent, and further promoted the construction of social psychological service system in Tianfu New Area. As another innovative initiative to implement the “Ten Major Projects for a Happy and Beautiful Life”, it will write down a new chapter for the pioneer area of park city practicing the new development concept.
