Ms. Zhang Mengfan, Secretary General of the SCIMEA introduced the “Yilu Manor” project to the guests present. “Yilu Manor” is one of the cultural landmarks of Chengdu and was announced as a provincial cultural relic protection unit in 2007. “Yilu Manor” was initially built in 1940, and was designed and constructed by professional designers hired by Zhang Shiyu, the then board member of West China Union University. Ms. Zhang Qiong Xian, the first female doctor in dentology in China, lived in the “Yilu Manor" for 73 years. The building as a whole is a brick-and-wood structure, and it sits in the southwest and faces northeast, with a total yard width of 26.32 meters, a total length of 28.41 meters, and a total area of 733.8 square meters. It’s a four-floor mixture of oriental culture and western culture made of granite, with equal length, width and height, reflecting the traditional Chinese characteristic of "square and dignity".
According to Secretary General Zhang Mengfan, “Yilu Manor” carries four missions of cultural inheritance, namely, homeland attachment, folk emotion, generosity, and reform and innovation. In the future, “Yilu Manor” will become a medical humanity-themed museum relied mainly on the historical relics of West China Hospital and the former residence of Zhang Qiongxian, and open for visits from people from all walks of life and for cultural learning activities organized by schools; besides, “Yilu Manor” will provide business incubation services for doctors with technological strength, R&D capacity, and commercialization ideas, serve as a communication platform for doctors and people in the medical field, and host closed-door meetings such as small-scale medical exchange seminars, as well as various international exchange activities.
At the dinner, representatives from embassies and consulates of many countries and top medical experts gathered together to exchange views on medical care and health in China and multilateral countries, to discuss the industrial status and international medical cooperation, and to seek new opportunities for innovation and development. The SCIMEA will also adhere to its consistent mission and philosophy to bridge top medical resources from home and abroad, build a platform for international and domestic medical exchanges and industrial development, contribute to the great cause of global human health, and work tirelessly to promote the flourishing of medical health in all countries.
