The First Plenary Meeting and Scientific Research Symposium of Special Committee on Critical Care Ultrasound and Hemodynamics (CCUSH) of SCIMEA was held in Wangjiang Hotel, Chengdu from July 14 to 15.

The plenary meeting was opened by Chairman Yin Wanhong, and advisors of the CCUSH, Prof. Jin Xiaodong from West China Hospital of Sichuan University, and Prof. Huang Xiaobo from Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital provided work guidance, and Mr. Tong Yubo, Director of Academic Conference Affairs Department of SCIMEA, delivered a speech. They pointed out that, after the establishment of CCUSH, under the leadership of Chairman Yin Wanhong, the members of the committee have been energetic to steadily progress the work, and through the promotion of clinical collaboration, academic activities, quality control of critical care ultrasound, and scientific research projects, CCUSH has scored a series of medical, teaching, research, and management results. The rapid work progress of CCUSH since its inception cannot be separated from the contribution of the members and the support of the society, and they hoped that all members will be much profited from study.

Then Chairman Yin Wanhong organized the working groups to report their work plans. He introduced the future work arrangement of CCUSH, including the work plans and divisions of labor of each working groups, including clinical collaboration, scientific research, education and quality control, academic conference affairs and cultural publicity, in order to promote the implementation of the corresponding issues.

Later, all members conducted discussion, during which they noted that advanced knowledge will change many people's understanding and influence their behaviors, and that the pioneers represented by Chairman Yin Wanhong and others have already done the preparatory work, and that it is worthwhile for every member of CCUSH to actively promote and implement the work in the future. The members also expressed their deepest expectations and most sincere blessings on the future of the CCUSH.

Discussions among all members

A symposium on infection was also organized before the plenary meeting. On the afternoon of July 14, chief physician Wang Bo, chief physician Yin Wanhong, and attending doctor Zhou Ran from West China Hospital of Sichuan University, chief physician Lei Xianying from the Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University, associate chief physician Pan Ling'ai, associate chief physician Zhang Xiaoqin from Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital, and other members shared their understanding of the precise treatment of anti-infections in ICUs, which was widely praised. 

The topic of infection is warmly discussed at the meeting.

After the plenary committee, a scientific research symposium is held, in which chief physician Yin Wanhong, attending physician Li Yi, attending physician Prof. Zou Tongjuan and attending physician Zhou Ran shared their thoughts on the pathophysiology and management of patients with shock and ICU-acquired infirmity based on visualization technology, announced the current status and prospect of large shock cohort study and released the recruitment information for the sub-center of large cohort of critically illness-associated infirmity, so as to promote and support the scientific research development of each member unit. And two physicians, Lei Zheng and Lei Ling, shared their experience on the above. The members said that the introduction of scientific research topics provides valuable experience for the subsequent implementation of related work, and they will actively join the program to promote the thought through action, constantly provide feedback through practical application for the sake of improvement, and construct ideas suitable for themselves for implementation.

Prof. Huang Xiaobo, an advisor, summarized the whole discussions during the scientific research symposium and put forward many useful suggestions. He also expressed his earnest hope and wished that the CCUSH would become better and better and contribute to the development of critical care.

In the end, Chairman Yin Wanhong made a summary of the meeting. He pointed out that, firstly, the smooth convening of the committee could not be separated from the organization, coordination and service of the working groups of various topics. Secondly, members are the main body of CCUSH, they need to participate in the work of CCUSH and promote the development of CCUSH. CCUSH needs to unite everyone to jointly lay down a solid foundation, and fully promote and support the development of each member unit to promote the development of critical care medicine in Sichuan.
