In order to meet the growing health needs of the people, promote the high quality development of wound management, and further enhance the ability of wound professionals in achieving the major historical mission of building a “Healthy China", the inaugural meeting of the Special Committee on Wound Management of Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association (SCIMEA) was successfully held in Chengdu on March 25, 2023.

The first item of the inaugural meeting was a preparatory report by Prof. Ning Ning, one of the initiators of the Special Committee on Wound Management of SCIMEA. Prof. Ning Ning said that there are many kinds of diseases in the wound field, and new technologies and new products for the detection and treatment of wound diseases are developing rapidly, so the professional skills of wound talents need to be improved. In addition, Prof. Ning Ning noted that due to the increase of chronic wound patients in China, patients' demand for wound care is gradually increasing. In response to the growing health needs of the people, the Special Committee on Wound Management was founded.  She hoped that through the committee, we can actively carry out academic exchanges, popularize advanced concepts and technologies of wound management, strengthen the cultivation of talents, and jointly contribute wisdom and strength to the people's health.

Later, Tong Yubo, Director of Academic Conference Affairs Department of SCIMEA, organized the election of the committee and read out the results. And the leaders at all levels of the committee were elected at the scene according to the election provisions in the Articles of Association of Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association. As a result,  Prof. Zhou Zongke, Prof. Zhang Hui, Prof. He Hongchen, Prof, Li Lingli and Prof. Dai Yan of West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Prof. Xie Huiqi of Orthopedic Research Institute of West China Hospital of Sichuan University, and Prof. Cai Yunmin of Jinshan Hospital of Fudan University, were elected as the advisors of the Special Committee on Wound Management of SCIMEA, Prof. Ning Ning as the chairman, 14 experts including Chen Bing, Chen Jiali and Chen Hua as  deputy chairmen, 45 experts including Cao Guiying and Chen Huaijun as members of the standing committee, 123 experts including Cao Li and Zeng Chengyi as the members, Chen Jiali as the secretary general, as well as Li Peifang, Ma Yanfei and Qu Junhong as secretaries.

Prof. Zhou Zongke, an advisor of the committee, congratulated on the establishment of the Special Committee on Wound Management by video. He mentioned that wound management is extremely important for surgical patients, and according to incomplete statistics, wound problems are one of the main reasons for patients' prolonged hospitalization and dissatisfaction during hospitalization. Nowadays, the nursing professional team has accumulated rich experience in wound management, which not only reduces the clinician's burden of diagnosis and treatment, but also provides more professional, precise and efficient medical services for patients, further enhancing their medical experience. The establishment of the committee will play a positive role in promoting wound management and contribute to the improvement of wound management in Sichuan.

Prof. Ning Ning, the newly elected chairman of the committee, spoke on behalf of all the members of the Special Committee on Wound Management. Prof. Ning Ning expressed her sincere thanks to the SCIMEA, the experts of the preparatory group and the participating experts for the establishment of the committee, and said that with the establishment of the committee, we will take the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress as our guide, follow the pace of the times, create a new situation of high-quality development of the committee, and hold regular wound academic conferences and wound management-related skills competitions with the help of high-level international exchange academic platforms. In addition, we will also organize special activities for wound management, set up a wound discipline alliance, and comprehensively promote the overall academic level and treatment skills of wound management in Sichuan.

The establishment of the Special Committee on Wound Management of SCIMEA will build a professional academic platform for practitioners in the field of wound management, discuss the latest progress and new achievements in the field of wound, promote the reform and innovation of wound management model, enhance the skills of wound management medical and nursing staff, and guard the people's health.
