The Inaugural Meeting of the Special Committee on Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery of SCIMEA Successfully Held

In order to promote academic exchange and cooperation in the field of minimally invasive spine surgery, and to promote the exchange on minimally invasive spine surgery between colleagues inside and outside Sichuan Province, the “Inaugural Meeting of the Special Committee on Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery of Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association”, sponsored by Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association (“SCIMEA”), was successfully held at Minshan Hotel Chengdu on October 15, 2021.
More than two hundred experts and scholars attended the inaugural meeting, including Prof. Zeng Jiancheng from West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Secretary General Zhang Mengfan of SCIMEA, Prof. Fan Haiquan from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu Medical College, Prof. Feng Daxiong from the Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University, Director Li Yue from Sichuan Province Orthopedic Hospital, and Prof. Gu Zuchao from Chengdu First People's Hospital.

The inaugural meeting of the Special Committee on Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery was chaired by Tong Yubo, Director of Academic Conference Affairs Department of SCIMEA. The meeting started with a report on the preparatory work of the Committee by Prof. Zeng Jiancheng, one of the initiators of the Special Committee on Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery of SCIMEA. He indicated that along with the in-depth development of material science, electronic science and human anatomy, many new techniques have emerged in the field of minimally invasive spine surgery, as a result of the continuous penetration and integration of various disciplines. In recent years, the traditional minimally invasive spine surgery techniques have been pursuing to be more minimally invasive, more precise and more efficient, and in view of the current uneven theoretical foundation of the doctors in our province scarce opportunities for learning and exchange, he hoped the exchange platform of SCIMEA would promote the exchange and development of minimally invasive spine surgery in Sichuan Province.

Later, Tong Yubo, Director of Academic Conference Affairs Department of SCIMEA, organized the election of the Committee and read out the results. All participants elected the leaders at all levels of the Committee according to the election provisions in the Articles of Association of Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association. As a result, Prof. Song Yueming and Prof. Liu Hao from West China Hospital of Sichuan University were respectively elected as advisor and honorary chairman, Prof. Zeng Jiancheng as chairman, 16 experts including Chen Changli and Fan Haiquan as deputy chairmen, 53 experts including Cai Jia and Cao Yun as members of the standing committee, 155 experts including Cai Litao as members, and Wang Xiandi and Xie Tianhang as secretaries.
Secretary General Zhang Mengfan read out the “Approval for the Establishment of the Special Committee on Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery of Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association”, and issued the approval for the establishment and letter of appointment to the newly-elected chairman Prof. Zeng Jiancheng.

Prof. Zeng Jiancheng, the newly elected chairman, spoke on behalf of all members of the Special Committee on Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery. He hoped, to further promote the exchange and development of minimally invasive spine surgery in Sichuan Province, all members of the Committee would make use of the platform of SCIMEA and mobilize more hospitals and doctors to strive for breakthroughs in international exchange, personnel training, paper publication, and the home for minimally invasive spinal surgery workers, and continue to consolidate the international leading achievements in spinal endoscopy, spine surgical navigation, and accelerated rehabilitation surgery.

At the end of the inaugural meeting, Ms. Zhang Mengfan, Secretary General of SCIMEA, on behalf of SCIMEA, warmly congratulated on the establishment of the Committee. She also briefly introduced that SCIMEA has established international medical exchange platforms, medical academic services platforms, medical culture dissemination platforms and industry development promotion platforms that are leading in the country, and they will, based on the needs of the experts, continue to provide more professional and accurate services for experts and the Committee. She believed with joint efforts, it is bound to promote new achievements in the minimally invasive spine surgery in Sichuan Province and achieve greater influence at home and abroad.
