This event is open for all medical workers to teach them Tai chi for free, and aims to respond to the call of 2030 Health China for all people to be physically fit, call on everyone to pass on the world's intangible cultural heritage of Tai chi and to pass on the love in the world in the form of public welfare among the masses.

The opening ceremony was co-presided over by Yu Shaobin, Attending Physician of the Department of Nephrology, West China Hospital of Sichuan University and Yuan Huaihong, Deputy Head Nurse of the Department of Nephrology, West China Hospital of Sichuan University. They introduced the guests attending the opening ceremony, including: Prof. Fu Ping, Director of the Department of Nephrology, West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Mr. He Junlong, Director of the China International Culture Exchange Center, Prof. Tao Ye from the Department of Nephrology, West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Ma Xiuqing, Director of the General Office of the Wenjiang Branch of West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Ms. Jiang Mingxi, Deputy Secretary General of International Exchange Center of China Tai Chi Culture, and medical professionals from Guangdong, Xinjiang, Shaanxi, Yunnan, Zhejiang, Chongqing, Sichuan and other places.

The question of how to integrate Chinese traditional culture into modern medicine to benefit the patients and help them return to society better has always been on the mind of Prof. Fu Ping, Director of the Department of Nephrology of West China Hospital of Sichuan University. At the opening ceremony of this training event, Prof. Fu Ping noted that although our current medical technology has enabled more than 80% of uremic dialysis patients to reach the 5-year survival goal, we still hope to do more to help patients return to normal life. With such an original aspiration, we are motivated to search for and approach the root of the Chinese traditional culture, namely, Tai chi culture. Tai chi does not only mean a set of martial arts moves for Chinese people, but a complete system of harmony which is inseparable from both individual physical and mental health and the long term stability of society.

As an explorer, we hope to discover and explore how Tai chi can build up our confidence to Chinese cultural, help our medical science development, and improve our personal physical and mental health. Tai chi will be a natural bridge between medicine and traditional culture, and will fill the gap of exercise rehabilitation discipline, providing with a practical and effective method and path for hospitals and patients, so that more patients with chronic diseases, especially uremic patients, can live a better life through exercise rehabilitation.

Mr. He Junlong then came on stage to give a speech for the opening ceremony. Mr. He said that Taichi He has been committed to promoting and carrying forward Chinese traditional culture, and has gained the essence of Tai chi culture. The value of Tai chi culture coincides with the needs of the medical and health industry, making it a natural channel connecting the three major fields of culture, health and technology. Taichi He hopes to help medical workers nationwide first through wholehearted teaching, and then influence and help the majority of patients and sub-healthy people, and eventually contribute to the society.

After the opening ceremony, the medical workers, led by Tai chi teachers, went outdoors to begin a new journey of the soul.

During the three-day intensive training, medical staff will be helped to improve their physical and mental health through academic discussions, and the eight styles of Tachi He, Baduanjin of Tachi He, and meditation of Tachi He, and other forms of training, which will in turn enhance the awareness of medical institutions at all levels of the importance of exercise rehabilitation management for patients with chronic kidney diseases, and help and promote exercise rehabilitation in hospitals at all levels nationwide. It is also hoped that exercise will be used as an adjunctive treatment to help patients recover their functions and return to society as soon as possible. The series of activities will, with the goal of harmony, help to realize the the blueprint of Healthy China 2030.
