On November 19, 2020, the “West China-Mayo International Forum of Critical Care Medicine 2020”, hosted by Sichuan Preventive Medicine Association, Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association and West China Hospital, Sichuan University and organized by the Department of Critical Care Medicine of West China Hospital, Sichuan University, was held at the International Conference Center of Chengdu Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center.

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the “West China-Mayo International Forum of Critical Care Medicine”. In the past five years, with the joint efforts of West China Hospital and the Mayo team, the West China-Mayo International Forum of Critical Care Medicine has gradually become an important internationally renowned platform for academic exchange. This year’s forum was co-chaired by Professor Kang Yan, Director of the Department of Critical Care Medicine at West China Hospital, Sichuan University, and Professor Daniel R. Brown, Director of Executive Committee of Critical Care Medicine, Mayo Clinic. It was intended, through exchange of ideas, to focus on hot topics such as the 2020 global critical care medicine trend, latest progress, hot spots and innovative cutting-edge technologies in this field, provide the participating medical practitioners with the leading technology information, strengthen the clinical skills of critical care personnel, update the participants with industry development trends, help medical staff deal with critical care with forward-looking perspective and developing concept, conduct clinical practice with more effective methods and technologies, create opportunities for extensive international exchanges and cooperation, and promote the development of critical care medicine. In addition, the conference also invited experts in from Mayo Clinic, which ranks top in the U.S., University of Washington Medical Center, Cambridge Critical Care Physicians Group and German critical care medicine field, as well as renowned professors from Chinese Society of Critical Care Medicine, Chinese Association of Critical Care Physicians, the Critical Care Medicine Committee of the Chinese Association of Pathophysiology and the Critical Care Medicine Committee of Chinese People's Liberation Army to share their professional views with the participants.

After nearly one year of fierce battle against COVID-19, China has achieved a decisive strategic victory in the fight, and Chinese medical workers are working closely, communicating deeply, and collaborating fully with their counterparts around the world to cope with and prevent the spread of the global pandemic, and to adapt to and re-start normal work, life and academic exchanges under the complex situation of “dancing with the pandemic”. The 8-day conference will be conducted through both on-site lectures and cloud-based courses.
•From November 19 to 22, core critical care technology workshops, lectures, view exchanges on hot topics, case discussions, face-to-face meeting with gurus and other academic discussions will be held.
•From November 23 to 27, cloud-based courses will be open for academic communication online.
